Students will receive a handout with all of this info at the beginning of the year
For Q1, students in Honors 7th and 8th grade ELA must read 4 books and take an AR test for each book. You must pass the AR test with a 60% or above in order for a book to count. Two books must be chosen from the Summer Reading List. The other two can be your choice. If that means that you read completely from the Summer Reading List, that is fine! This list can be found on the library website. Completion of these four books is worth 10% of the students' grade. The individual AR test scores will not be used as grades. Passing the test is what counts towards this one final grade. You will see this grade in PowerSchool as the RAMS Reading grade at the end of the quarter. Extra books will count as extra credit after an AR test has been passed.
Reading 3 books off the Summer Reading list qualifies you for the County Park field trip! We have all of the information from Summer Reading, so if you qualify, you will hear from us soon!
Don't forget to turn in your list of Summer Reading books. This will be turned into Charleston County. ANY books read over the summer can be added to this list, not just summer reading books.
Students will also complete Reading Responses for homework throughout the week. Reading responses can be completed on the same books that are being read for RAMS.
